Besides rock music, Danny grew up listening to some of the great symphonies that were in his father’s record collection. His dad, Big Bob, also took him to see many of these orchestral works performed live. He encouraged Danny’s passion for drumming, no doubt putting up with lots of loud practice sessions coming from the attic in the early days. Once his son could play ELP’s “Tank” perfectly, he knew a great drummer would emerge from tiny Paola, Kansas. So, here’s to the memory of Big Bob on this Father’s Day. Now that Danny has his own son, we’ll have to wait and see if he takes up the drums. I certainly wouldn’t bet against it?
