“Alan White, one of the worlds greatest musicians and percussionist has left our plane. His drumming helped form my approach to my instrument as much or more than anyone else. The drumming on the Yes album “Relayer” had an effect on me that has lasted throughout my career. He also helped me realize the importance of teamwork when it comes to the bassist / drummer relationship with the magic that he and Chris Squire created. I was fortunate enough to meet Alan on a flight to Seattle. He was an absolute gentleman and kind enough to share a drink and some incredible Yes stories with an overly zealous fan. I’m sure as I look back I was a bit annoying but he was patient enough to put up with me. That “contact” at that time was quite impactful and I’ve always held a special place in my drumming heart for Alan. His contributions to the music world will live on through me and others he touched forever. May he Rest In Peace.”
