THE DREAM COMES TRUE!
The legendary stainless steel kit was commissioned by Carl Palmer of ELP in 1973 and built by the British Steel Company. The shells are hand-engraved with ornate hunting scenes similar to those woodland depictions seen on the metalwork of expensive firearms. Included with the set that Danny recently purchased for an undisclosed sum were Carl’s symphonic tympani, tubular bells, massive gongs (themselves embellished with painted dragons that writhed in strobe lights during live ELP shows) and a very heavy antique church bell that Carl used to ring in his solos by pulling the string with his teeth!
(NOTE: to watch Carl in action on this unique set of drums, see www.youtube: ELP at the California Jam 1974.)
